The recent recognition of Pembina and the Energizing Communities Collective with the Generosity of Spirit Award is a true testament to the power of collaboration and community impact. This dynamic partnership of 23 energy companies has come together to support Classroom Champions, a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering young students through mentorship with professional athletes.

The impact of this initiative cannot be overstated. By raising $4 million over the past two years, Pembina and the Collective have helped expand Classroom Champions’ reach, ensuring that thousands of students—particularly in underserved, rural, and Indigenous communities across British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan—have access to meaningful mentorship and social-emotional learning programs. With 87 schools receiving funding, 380 teachers enrolled, and 31 Indigenous communities signing up for customized programs, this initiative is fostering a more inclusive and supportive learning environment for nearly 10,000 students.

The mentorship aspect of Classroom Champions is particularly inspiring. More than 300 Olympic, Paralympic, university, and professional athletes are dedicating their time to mentor and guide these students, helping them build resilience, confidence, and essential life skills. This level of engagement not only enhances academic performance but also instills values of perseverance, teamwork, and leadership.

Being honoured with the Generosity of Spirit Award is a momentous occasion, celebrating the generosity and dedication of all those involved. The funding provided by Pembina and the Collective is instrumental in ensuring that these programs continue to thrive, creating a lasting impact on students and their communities. It’s a proud moment to see this collaborative effort being recognized, as it highlights the importance of investing in the future of our youth.

Through initiatives like these, communities become stronger, more inclusive, and better connected. The work of Pembina, the Energizing Communities Collective, and Classroom Champions is a shining example of what can be achieved when organizations come together with a shared commitment to making a difference.
