Neptune is a private company owned by two bulk commodity shippers: Canpotex and Teck Resources.
For more than 50 years, the company has handled potash and steelmaking coal for export to markets around the world.
Located on Vancouver’s North Shore, just west of the Iron Workers’ Memorial Bridge and part of the Port of Vancouver, Neptune is one of the largest multi-product bulk terminals in North America. Bulk shipping terminals handle commodities that are transported in large quantities without packaging or containerization.
Neptune has grown significantly over the years, always with a focus on continuous improvement. In its first year of business, the terminal handled more than 3.2 million tonnes of product. Today, it has the capacity to handle 18.5 million tonnes each year, and that number continues to grow with capital investments by its shareholder companies and investments in infrastructure including rail.
Neptune is extremely proud of the integral role it plays in Canada’s economy by helping to move Canadian products to global markets such as Asia, South America and Europe. In some years, the terminal handles commodities responsible for as much as 5% of Canada’s GDP.
As a proud member of the North Shore Neptune contributes socially, environmentally and economically to a thriving community:
